Which presidential candidate do America's billionaires prefer? Donald Trump, or Hillary Clinton?
Hint: They donate vastly greater sums of money to Clinton's campaign than to Trump's. Answer: They overwhelmingly prefer Hillary Clinton.
The stupendous sums these billionaires donate must surely give them considerable influence in American politics. This is disturbing. But equally disturbing is the reality that America's news media companies are owned by just 15 billionaires, according to Forbes Magazine.
Furthermore, Clinton has received 96 percent of all the donations from journalists to the two leading candidates. Thus, not just the wealthy news media owners, but the journalists themselves tend to favor Clinton. This may explain the many complaints about pro-Clinton media bias.
One conspicuous example of media bias is an Associated Press article that was distributed widely after the final presidential debate. It opens with this sentence: "Threatening to upend a basic pillar of American democracy, Donald Trump refused to say Wednesday night that he would accept the results of next month’s election if he loses to Hillary Clinton.”
That is a highly unethical distortion of what Trump actually said: "What I'm saying is, I'll tell you at the time. I'll keep you in suspense, okay?"
Clearly, Trump did not threaten to "upend a basic pillar of American democracy". Thus, the Associated Press article was deceptive and misleading.
It is a historical fact that Democrat Al Gore challenged the 2000 election result without undermining American democracy. And Trump has not even said he would go as far as to demand a recount, which is what Al Gore did. Clearly, the Associated Press reporters misrepresented Trump's statement. Their alarmist language was apparently intended to frighten American voters, and falsely portray Trump as a threat to democracy. Their article raised a false alarm, which has misled all Americans.
Generally, the mainstream news media have focused their reporting on the sexual misconduct accusations against Trump. Of course, sex scandals typically attract large audiences. However, the Wikileaks revelations are also attracting enormous interest, so why have they been largely ignored by the news media? Most likely, the news media are trying to suppress the Wikileaks revelations, to avoid hurting Clinton. In other words, they have a pro-Clinton bias.
In addition, the Wikileaks revelations are embarrassing for the news media itself. Specifically, Wikileaks has revealed that some news media outlets have unethically colluded with the Clinton campaign. So of course, the news media don't want Americans to know about this. It's embarrassing. Moreover, the news media may be worried that even more embarrassing news may yet be revealed by Wikileaks. Hence, the news media have strong motivation to distract attention away from Wikileaks' revelations, to avoid any further embarrassment.
Thus, the mainstream news media have abandoned the neutrality and integrity that is essential for their role in society. In doing so, they themselves have upended a key pillar of our democracy. While their billionaire owners may feel "stronger together" in an alliance with Clinton, their collusion is a betrayal of all Americans.
Furthermore, the Clinton campaign itself has been upending pillars of American democracy. For example, Clinton's associates rigged the Democratic primaries, they violently disrupted some Trump rallies, and they have been caught on video explaining their voter fraud techniques. Additionally, the FBI's decision to excuse Clinton's email crimes was apparently approved by President Obama. If so, then Obama too has undermined American democracy. He has allowed Clinton to remain in the presidential race, when she should actually sentenced to prison.
Hillary's associates were willing and able to rig the Democratic primaries, so it is realistic to expect that they might attempt to rig the actual election. Their cleverness at tampering is matched only by their low ethical standards. Obviously, Hillary Clinton's corruption is a far more important issue than Donald Trump's rudeness. But that crucial point has been systematically obscured by the mainstream news media. Hence, Trump is right to wait and see how the election is conducted before accepting the result.
As election day approaches, here are some fundamental questions for Americans voters to consider: Would you rather tolerate rudeness or endure corruption? Do you want a man who speaks candidly, or a woman who lies? Do you prefer a man who is continually scrutinized by suspicious journalists, or a woman whose corruption is hidden by her powerful news media friends? Should you choose a man who is committed to restoring America's greatness, or a woman who has botched several Middle East wars, and who is too politically correct to defend America's borders? Do you prefer a man who intends to eradicate Washington's corruption, or a woman whose corruption may infect America's entire government?
As election day approaches, let's look beyond the biased mainstream news media, and discover the reality they have been hiding from us.
